Privacy Policy

Feedling (“the app”) is a native RSS reader for iPhone. This policy explains what data Feedling handles and — just as importantly — what it doesn’t.

Summary

Feedling does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data with the developer. Subscriptions and articles live on your device. If you are signed into iCloud on a build that has CloudKit enabled, they can also sync through your own private iCloud account — never through Feedling servers (there are none).

What Feedling stores, and where

• Subscriptions, folders, articles, and read/starred state are stored on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework, in an App Group container shared only with Feedling’s own widget and Apple Watch companion app.
• Settings (theme, font size, retention period, etc.) are stored in standard iOS UserDefaults on your device.
• Cached images and audio are cached on-device to make scrolling and playback faster, and can be cleared anytime from Settings → Data → Clear Image Cache.

None of the above is sent to the developer.

Network requests Feedling makes

• The RSS/Atom/RDF feed URLs you subscribe to. When you add a feed or refresh your subscriptions, Feedling makes a standard HTTPS request to that feed’s server to download new articles — the same way any web browser or RSS reader would. Feedling identifies itself with a User-Agent string so feed publishers can see it’s an RSS client, but sends no other identifying information.
• Article pages you choose to fetch in full. When you tap Fetch Full Article in the reader (or enable auto-fetch for short posts in Settings), Feedling downloads that article’s original web page to extract a readable body. That request goes to the article’s own host — the same site you’d visit in a browser — and is never sent to Feedling servers.
• Links you tap. If you open an article’s original link or a video link, it opens in an in-app Safari view (or your default browser), subject to that website’s own privacy practices — not Feedling’s.

Feedling does not run its own servers, does not have an account system of its own, and does not use any third-party analytics, ad, or tracking SDKs.

Notifications

If you turn on “Notify Me of New Articles” for a feed, Feedling schedules a local notification on your device when that feed has new articles. This uses Apple’s on-device notification system — no data about your feeds or reading habits is sent to the developer.

iCloud sync

Feedling can sync subscriptions, folders, articles, and read state through Apple’s CloudKit private database tied to the iCloud account signed into the device. Sync activates when the app is signed with a team that has the CloudKit container provisioned and you are signed into iCloud; otherwise Feedling stays fully local.

The developer cannot read that data — it is scoped to your Apple ID the same way Apple Notes or Reminders data is. Turning off iCloud for Feedling (or signing out of iCloud) stops sync; local data on the device remains.

Children’s privacy

Feedling does not knowingly collect data from anyone, children included, because it does not collect personal data for the developer.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above will change and the new version will be posted at https://feedling.pages.dev/.
